TalentWall 10 - CACHE

Alida van Gool

An interactive search for consciousness, perception and imagination

Dive into our consciousness together with artist Alida van Gool, and investigate the role of perception in (re)creating our experiences. To what extent do images offer opportunities to capture our human spirit? What significance do images have in explaining mental processes? What role does time play in constructing memories, perception, and individuality?

On Saturday June 1, between 12:00 and 16:00, Alida will work at Pennings Foundation to install 'CACHE (Temporary Memory)': a collage installation in which she investigates these questions through creation. The public is invited to take a seat within the work and become part of the creative process.

Come by on June 1, step into the visualization of our mind, and take a seat in the consciousness of the artist. Question. Reflect. Contemplate. Muse and blend in.

‘CACHE (Temporary Memory)' will remain on display (without the artist present) at Pennings Foundation on the TalentWall until August 24.

Alida van Gool (1986) is a conceptual artist. In her work, she explores the construction of meaning and value. She studied Arts and Culture Studies at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, and later graduated from the Fotoacademie in Amsterdam.

Her art practice is built on experimentation, association and intuition. Through her work, Alida gives physicality to often invisible (mental, digital) structures, processes, and states. This creates the possibility for a more intimate, direct relationship with such abstractions. Her work often shows traces of apparent sloppiness (in the broader sense of being loose, emotional, messy) in the execution process, with which she examines and challenges our mental projections of perfection.

With 'CACHE (Temporary Memory)’ she gives a physical, embodied, form to intangible everyday concepts such as consciousness, perception and imagination.
