Library

The Pennings Foundation library consists of more than 5,500 books on photography. The library is open by appointment for research and inspiration.

The library consists of two collections.

The library of approximately 1500 books on Dutch and foreign photography of the former Gallery Pennings, compiled by founder Harry Pennings and supplemented by his successor Petra Cardinal, has moved to Pennings Foundation.

At the end of 2019, the library was expanded with more than 4,000 books by collector Adrie Mennen. The emphasis of the Mennen collection is on monographs by Dutch photographers (first editions and mostly signed) from the beginning of the 20th century to 2017. In addition to monographs, the collection also contains collections about Dutch photography.

Currently, hard work is being done on cataloging, whereby a connection has been sought with the national photography library: www.fotografiebibliotheek.nl

As soon as the books have been entered in the said national system, it is possible to search through various inputs, including by photographer and by keyword. Until then, we can only search by name of the photographer via excel files. We are happy to help you!
