Fotokafeine, een vernieuwend fenomeen onder fotografen in Brabant, nú bij Pennings Foundation.

In een informele, kleinschalige setting is er ruimte voor beleven, inspireren, elkaar ontmoeten en verwonderd raken. Uiteraard zijn ook niet-fotografen welkom.

Wij organiseren de avond inclusief een kleine maaltijd vooraf. Aan de fotograaf van de avond de vrijheid om een eigen invulling te geven aan verwondering of ons mee te nemen in zijn wereld van beeldtaal op eigen, ludieke wijze.

Paul Bogaers (Tilburg, 1961) is een beeldend kunstenaar die fotografie als medium gebruikt. In zijn fotocombinaties, waarvoor hij zowel eigen als gevonden snapshots, ansichtkaarten en andere reeds bestaande afbeeldingen gebruikt, spelen associatie en suggestie een belangrijke rol. Met zijn Extended Photography breidt hij de fotografie uit naar ruimtelijkheid, door het gebruik van driedimensionale materialen en objecten. Het is een onderzoek naar, een spel met, presentatie en representatie. Een spanningsveld tussen een gesuggereerde ruimtelijkheid en een reële ruimtelijkheid.

Paul Bogaers studeerde aan de Academie voor Beeldende Vorming te Tilburg. Hij publiceerde verschillende boeken, waaronder Upset down, Stereosophic Conjunctions, Les Vacances de M. Rorschach en Onderlangs.

Fotokafeine is a meeting place for and by photographers.

Fotokafeine, an innovative phenomenon among photographers in Brabant, now at Pennings Foundation.

In an informal, small-scale setting there is room to experience, inspire, meet and be amazed. Of course, non-photographers are also welcome.

We organize the evening including a small meal beforehand. The photographer of the evening has the freedom to give his/her own interpretation to amazement or to take us into the world of storytelling in his/her own, playful way.

Paul Bogaers (Tilburg, 1961) is a visual artist who uses photography as a medium. In his photo combinations, for which he uses both own and found snapshots, postcards and other pre-existing images, association and suggestion play an important role.

With his Extended Photography he extends photography to spatiality, through the use of three-dimensional materials and objects. It is an investigation into, a game with, presentation and representation. A feeling of tension between a suggested spatiality and a real spatiality.

Paul Bogaers studied at the Academy of Visual Arts in Tilburg. He has published several books, including Upset down, Stereosophic Conjunctions, Les Vacances de M. Rorschach and Onderlangs.
