WE CAN BE HEROES

‘We Can Be Heroes’ is about recognition, connection, talent, and making powerful, honest stories visible. Heroism is not about being perfect, but about having the courage to be seen — with everything you were, are, and are becoming.

Everyone has multiple sides. Strong sides, caring sides, and sides full of qualities, resilience, and the desire to be acknowledged. The participants explore their own stories — stories about identity, change, growth, shame, strength, gender, resistance, or the choice to move along.

Participants are creative makers of all ages, including people living in vulnerable social circumstances. What is shown — and experienced — are intimate moments within a larger narrative.

The project was realised through an intensive collaboration between HaaKaan Gestel, CKE and vdZandt Studios. With support from Pennings Foundation, Neos, CKE and the Dutch Fund for Cultural Participation.
