From March 7 to May 9, 2026 we will present the 7th edition of the Harry Pennings Prize. The predecessor of Pennings Foundation, Galerie Pennings, established the prize in 2007, both in memory of the founder of one of the first galleries for autonomous photography in the Netherlands and to give emerging photographers an opportunity to distinguish themselves and present their work.

We invited several experts in the field of (autonomous) photography to nominate candidates who were trained at an art or photography academy and who live in the Netherlands or Belgium. From the longlist of candidates, a jury selected a shortlist of nominees for the prize. The jury consists of: Hendrik Driessen (former director of Museum De Pont), Roos Schouw (editor-in-chief of Focus), and Henk Wildschut (photographer).

The nominees are: Basile Rabaey, Elizar Veerman, Eveline van Hamond, MAryam Touzani, Merel Hegenbart, Michelle Piergoelam, Tony Doçekal, Tyler Chan, and Zheng Andong. The photographic projects for which they were selected will be shown in the group exhibition from 7 March to 9 May 2026..

Visitors to the exhibition can cast their vote for the Audience Award.

During the award ceremony on Saturday 18 April 2026, the jury will announce the overall winner. The winner of the Audience Award will also be revealed at that time.

In 2007 the Harry Pennings Prize was awarded to Renée van Trier, in 2009 to Wytske van Keulen, in 2011 to Awoiska van der Molen, in 2015 to Maroesjka Lavigne, in 2019 to Marwan Bassiouni, and in 2023 to Jasper van den Ende.
