Inge Nabuurs & Erwin van Doorn
Game Pieces III
Time & location
May 23, 2020 – June 14, 2020 | Pennings Foundation
Opening exhibition: will be announced later.
Inge Nabuurs and Erwin van Doorn have researched the work of Mike Kelley, The Morgue, which is part of the collection of the Van Abbemuseum. They have also been to Detroit where Mike Kelley grew up. Nabuurs & Van Doorn use history as a medium (in this case a project by Mike Kelley) and respond to it. Their research and findings are categorized through a system of their own design. A script has been drawn up that becomes the guideline for a performance in the game pieces they built at Pennings Foundation.
A video film of this project, which was partly developed with the support of the Van Abbemuseum, is on show at the Van Abbemuseum for 1.5 years.
The Game Pieces III (installations) are built in the gallery space of Pennings Foundation. Performances will take place during the first weekend of the exhibition, which will be filmed and then become part of the exhibition as a film. In addition, photographic work from earlier series will be shown and the Van Abbemuseum will set up an exhibition at Pennings Foundation with works from their own collection.
